Hey everyone! This week has been a great one! I have been companions with Sister Moore for a week now and she is so awesome! We have a lot in common and it's going to be a lit transfer. This week there was a blue grass concert in downtown madison called River Roots and we got to TWE (talk with everyone) around it and it was so fun. Lots of interesting people haha. It rained and there was a full rainbow all the way in the sky and everyone we talked to said "look it's God's promise!" Haha so yeah it was very interesting. What's really cool is that we got 9 new investigators this week and we are teaching in Spanish to one of them! I have no idea how to speak Spanish so I'm studying haha. His girlfriend translates for us and we try to speak in Spanish but I have no idea what I'm saying haha. Hopefully I get better! I gave a talk yesterday in church about what I can sacrifice for the lord. It was the first time I gave a talk I didn't have it written out word for word what I was going to say and it went great! It was actually a lot easier than I thought it was going to to be. I've seen my skills improve more and more as I've been out on my mission and I've really seen how the spirit works through me. I'm so grateful for this time I'm here on my mission. I look at how long I've been out (almost 4 months now) and how much I have to go and it seems daunting but it's also the best thing I've ever done. I'm so grateful for this time I have that I can dedicate my life to the lord and follow the path he wants me to take. I'm eternally grateful for the restored gospel of Jesus christ and all the blessings it's given me in my life. I love you all and hope you have a great Week! Peace & Blessings Sister Harris The only pic I have this week is one I took with a giant bunny. He's the size of a medium sized dog. Kind of scary lol. I'm out of traning!! It's been a long road but I'm finally out of training! Transfers are tomorrow and I will be staying in the madison area. Sister Mendon will be leaving to be an STL in Evansville and Sister Moore will be my new comoanion. Sister Moore is super awesome! I know her a little bit because she trained a sister from my MTC district and I can just tell she is such a great person. I'm super excited to serve the Lord with her in Madison! Luna was confirmed yesterday! Now she has the gift of the holy ghost and she is doing great. I love her so much! I'm so so so so happy for her. This last week was somewhat of a bummer. Almost everyday our plans fell through and we met a couple not so nice people. BUT it was Sister Mendon's Birthday and that was great! Her sister sent her a GIANT cake in the mail and so we have lots of chocolate cake. Also some members dropped by brownies and cupcakes. So our dessert needs are definitely being taken care of. We also have some investigators that continue to impress us with their growth. We had the opportunity to volunteer at a 5k on Saturday which was super fun! And we took Brother Kubik with us to the temple so he could walk around the grounds and enter the waiting room. It was super powerful. He had the chance to meet one of the temple presidency members and was explained about the blessings of the ordinances of the temple. Brother Kubik loved seeing the temple. He is so close to baptism! He even said "maybe I just need to jump in the water" and sister mendon and I were like "YES!!!" in our minds. So hopefully that happens soon! Also our phone broke lol. It's one of the sliding phones and it came apart so we got a new one so that's shveet. We saw a squirrel crossing a power line so that was pretty cool too. We got to play with kittens the other day at the shelter and they were s'cute. I tried to hold them all but they kept running out of my arms. Oh and I got to Skype the fam yesterday! It was so great seeing everyone and getting the actually talk with them! I'm so grateful for technology that allows our families to stay close together. So anyways, that's about our week. I love you all! Peace & Blessings Sister Harris Wow what a week! Luna got baptized!! We had her baptism yesterday and it was so great! Luna actually was the first person I taught in the mission field. She is so amazing and she has such a special place in my heart. This has been a long road leading up to her baptism but we thought she was finally ready! It was such a special day. We all felt the love that Heavenly Father has for Luna so strongly. There were many tears of joy shed from everyone in attendance. We all love Luna so much and are so glad she found the right path. Luna grew up having a rough life and it's so amazing seeing how much the gospel truly helps improve our lives. I'm so grateful to be on my mission for moments like this, where I get to be a part of helping someone change their life for the better. What a blessing it is to have the fulness of the gospel restored on the earth today and also the priesthood authority that allows us to make covenants with our Heavenly Father to help us return to live with him again. I'm eternally grateful to my Heavenly Father for such wonderful blessings. I've been out on my mission for a little over 3 months! That's so crazy! Time is really flying by. I'm already 1/6 done with my mission. Say what?!?! Plus this is my last week of training! How crazy is that?! Transfers are next Tuesday so we will see what happens. Most likely I will be staying in Madison, IN and Sister Mendon will be leaving to a different area. So weird to think I'm going to be an actual missionary and not just a greenie. Well I still feel like a greenie sometimes haha but I'm so much better than I was when I began. I'm so grateful to serve here in the kentucky, Louisville Mission. Even though I'm still new, I can say that the mission does change lives. This is the time where I am God's investigator and I am learning so much. I'm so grateful I have this opportunity to deepen my own conversion. I love this gospel and I love sharing it. Gospel Love, Sister Harris 1) The gang! 2) The gang feat. Brother Kinman Hey y'all! It's been another great week in the Great Kentucky Louisville Mission! The work is progressing and people are coming to christ. We have the best investigators ever! They all have a sincere desire to follow christ and his teachings and are all making changes in their lives to do so. It's amazing seeing how the fulness of the gospel truly changes people's lives. Last week I had the opportunity to go to the Louiville, Kentucky temple. It was such a great experience. I am so grateful for temples and the peaceful feelings it brings. Some other cool things that happened last week was that I got to feed a cow! I was doing service at a members home and we got to take a break to feed their cows. It was so awesome. After doing service they took us out to eat and they gave me some frog legs to eat. Normally I would never even think to eat frog legs but I did and it actually was not bad haha! Now I can say I've eaten frog legs lol. I also had the opportunity to teach seminary last week. We taught about how the law of moses points to the coming of Jesus christ. At the end of the lesson we did yoginary (yoga + seminary). My dad sent me a lesson plan on how we could connect the seminary doctrinal mastery to yoga poses and it went really well! Last Friday we were served two dinners!! We had a lesson in Vevay (town next to madison) and we had a member come with us. She told us after the lesson that she hadn't eaten all day so we went to a restaurant so she could have dinner but then she bought us food as well. So we had dinner with her and then went straight to a dinner appointment at another members home. We thought we were going to explode we were so full. I guess it's not uncommon to have two dinners out here in the mission but I'm not sure how I feel about that haha. That's about it for this last week! Gospel love, Sister Harris 1) feeding cows!!! 2) frog legs 3) yoginary 4) companion pic :) |
